Wongyu Ted Cho, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer
Prior to Opinity, Dr. Cho co-founded Serome Technology and Dialpad Communications, two successful startups in Korea and the U.S. respectively. As CTO at Serome, he played an integral role in developing core communication technologies. He also was in charge of Serome's marketing. At Dialpad, he led a team of 50 engineers in product design, standards compliance, and service infrastructure. Dr. Cho also has served as CEO of Serome Technology Investment, a private equity venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. In addition to investing in portfolio companies, he has provided strategic business guidance.
Dr. Cho received his bachelor's degree in computer engineering from Seoul National University and his master's degree and Ph.D. in computer science from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). His major research focus was on intelligent information retrieval, pattern recognition, and AI.
Doyon Kim, Chief Product Officer
As a co-founder of Opinity, Mr. Kim is responsible for Opinity's product development, global marketing, and strategic enterprise relationships. He has over 10 years of experience in product management and marketing in Internet and consumer product businesses.
Prior to Opinity, Mr. Kim co-founded Dialpad Communications, where he developed successful consumer products and led the company's marketing efforts. Under his guidance, Dialpad grew to one million registered users within eight weeks of launching and to over 10 million users in 12 months. Mr. Kim also has worked at Daewoo Electronics and Serome Technology in international sales and consumer marketing.
Mr. Kim received his bachelor's degree in political science and diplomacy from Yonsei University and his MBA from the University of Michigan.
Jinkuen Paul Choi, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Choi's expertise includes firmware design, wireless and IP protocol development, consumer application and service infrastructure implementation. He has over 15 years of experience not only in technology development, but also in large-scale commercial service operation.
Prior to joining Opinity, Mr. Choi was the founder and president of Airdast, Inc., a California company focused on the development of Bluetooth-based wireless protocol engines and multimedia streaming technology. Mr. Choi also was a co-founder of Serome Technology, where he was responsible for developing business communication solutions. At Dialpad Korea, he guided the development of the service platform and infrastructure. He also has worked as a senior engineer at Human Computer and Trigem Computer where he developed printer-related technologies.
Mr. Choi received his bachelor's degree in computer science from Sokang University and his master's degree from KAIST.
Hongcheol Scott Kim, Chief Financial Officer
Prior to joining Opinity, Mr. Kim was a consultant and general partner in Alloy Partners, where he provided large conglomerates and venture-backed companies with professional services in finance, accounting, corporate and individual tax strategies, and internal operations.
Mr. Kim has also served as vice president of finance and administration at Dialpad Communications and was treasurer and senior director of investment at Serome Technology Investment. He was a senior corporate tax consultant at Deloitte & Touche in New York, where he specialized in banking and foreign trade for clients that included Japanese, Korean, and U.S. corporations.
Mr. Kim is a CPA in Maryland and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received his bachelor's degree and MBA in international business from Baldwin Wallace College in Ohio, and his MBA in information systems management and master's degree in accounting from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Bill H. Washburn, Ph.D., Vice President of Business Development
Bill Washburn brings a world of experience and expertise to Opinity. He has been appointed by the United Nations as an official spokesperson representing the U.S. in Internet business development meetings for Southeast Asian nations (ASEAN), and he has served on advisory boards and committees in dozens of corporate, governmental, and non-profit organizations.
As chief policy officer and privacy officer at RealNames Corporation, he was one of the first communications strategists to advocate the importance and the value of the trustworthiness of the Internet as a primary message. During his tenure as senior vice president for business development at NetDelivery, the company experienced a 350% growth in revenues. As senior vice president for Internet business development at Mecklermedia, Dr. Washburn worked directly with the CEO to change the company's focus to Internet business, which was responsible in part for the company's 600% growth in revenues.
Dr. Washburn was the founding executive director of Commercial Internet Xchange (CIX) where he led the effort to persuade U.S. government officials to review and remove all restrictions on commercial and private use of the Internet. He also persuaded many university leaders to give up their de facto ownership of the Internet in favor of ownership by the private sector.
Dr. Washburn earned his Ph.D. in Administration and Public Policy and his M.A. in Philosophy (Ethics) at Stanford University. He also holds a B.A. in English Literature and Philosophy from Weber State College in Ogden, Utah.
Sangki "Steve" Han, CEO of Opinity Asia Pacific
Steve Han is an independent principal consultant with the management consulting firm, Valmore Partners. He also serves as the head of global operations for Daum Interactive, the Japanese branch of Daum Communications, the number one portal site in Korea.
Dr. Han was responsible for the majority acquisition of a joint venture between Daum and PoweredCom, the second largest network provider in Japan. As president and CEO of Daum Communications, he expanded the business into Japan, China, and Europe.
Prior to Daum, Dr. Han was the founder, president, and CEO of VenturePort, a venture consulting firm that provides strategic planning and financial services to startups and growth stage companies. He also has worked for Samsung Electronics, Trigem Computers, Human Computers, and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology in various leadership positions. Dr. Han holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Seoul National University and Master of Science and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He is a member of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), IEEE, and ACM. He has chaired numerous technical and business forums, and he writes columns for MoneyToday, Electronic Times, The Korea Economic Daily, and other publications.
